St. Elizabeth School introduced S.T.E.A.M. to the students at the end
of January. Many of the students suddenly realized that they had been
experiencing STEM - STEAM like projects for years at St. Elizabeth's.
Now they have a name for what they do.
For example:

The 6th Graders participated in a "STEAM" project. On the Ipads in Art
Class they began a project called "The Hour of Code". The 'Hour of Code'
is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org
to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and
computer programming, created by Pamela Fox. They learned about
Computer Coding while working in "Hour of Drawing with Code". "This hour
teaches your students to program using JavaScript, one of the world's most
popular programming languages." They used the program to create drawings
and even created a fun snowman project.  They then continued in Computer
class and used their PC's (personal computers). The students were asked
on which technological device coding was easier and they all agreed that it
was much easier to use the PC. With the popularity of the Ipad a good
lesson was learned that there is still a time, place and use for Personal  Computers .
